Davis is 1 month/4 weeks--February 28 (or February 31st?)

Happy 1 month/4 week birthday Davis!!  Davis is beginning to stay awake for a tiny bit longer during some naps and is sleeping on average around 5 hours in one stretch at night!! Thank you Lord for a great sleeper.  We think he is beginning to smile at us but unclear.  We go to the doctor tomorrow for our 1 month check up.  Can't wait to find out how much this growing boy weighs.
(Since we will begin posting monthly updates from here on out-when do you "celebrate" his monthly birthday if not all months have 31 days? Silly question but one I ponder often.)

This is a dear sweet friend, Courtney.  We have weekly lunch dates that I LOVE!
A little cuddle/rest time with Daddy

A got the tail end of a precious and HUGE smile!
Happy 1 month Davis John!  "It's not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we watch to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours. I can't tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it, myself. " ~Joyce Maynard

The Best Birthday

One week after Davis was born...I turned the big 3-0!!!!
It was such a great birthday to spend with my newest son, with my mom, and a special date night with my husband.  He treated me to a wonderful sushi meal (it has been a long 9 months without it).
Then I received the BEST present from my dear sweet husband (and so many friends and family).  Here is my very own book of sweet messages from my loved ones.  A few months ago Craig began working on this gift, by sending out 5 questions and compiling the amazing responses in a beautiful book that I will forever cherish, enjoy, and read often!!!!
The 5 questions consisted of: What words or adjectives best describe Julie, What Godly/Christlike attributes does Julie have, What makes Julie a good friend, What is your favorite memory shared with Julie, and What would you want Julie to know on her 30th birthday to encourage her?

I am blown away by the generous thought of my sweet husband who knows my love language better than I do-words of affirmation, for sweet friends and family that had amazing words to say, and the time that all of you spent in making my 30th unforgettable.  If I don't get around to thanking each of you personally-know how much this truly means to me!  Thank you!!!

Davis is 3 weeks -- February 21

Another fun week with our new little punkin!  Davis is such a great baby-eats and sleeps all the time.  We are still waiting for when he "wakes" up and his personality changes but until then we are loving on our little man!

Julie's mom came in again to help us during our big Student Ministry event with our Sophomores.  We were able to come and go and not have to worry about childcare.  Thanks again Mimi for ALL you have done to help make this transition so much easier!  We miss you already and can't wait to see you soon.
Julie's sister, Aunt Jen, and her family came in town to meet Davis. (More on their visit on a later post)
Christalyn, Davis' cousin, is such a little momma and a huge help.  She will be 8 years old in October!
The 4 Garcias and 2 Wennings

Lauren came to visit, a friend of Julie's from ADPi days
Love Davis' little Shirt and Tie combo-  Thanks Jocelyn!!

This is a common act-Caleb trying to share his toys with his little brother and in the meantime mommy stepping in to save Davis from any major injuries.
Another sleeping weekly photo! Precious!

We are so in love with this little guy and count our blessing with each day we have with him!

Davis is 2 weeks -- February 14

Crazy how fast 2 weeks has flown by! We are so in love with our littlest guy and have enjoyed getting to know him, his little noises/grunts, and watching him grow everyday.  Davis continues to be a great sleeper and eater.  He is such precious addition to our family.  Here are some pictures of our week:
Mammy and MeDad came in from Austin
Just chillin'
Enjoying this beautiful weather with a walk around the neighborhood
Daddy gave Davis his first bottle and he downed 4 oz in no time
Enjoying one last cuddle with Mammy
This is a frequent look Caleb has, as he admires his little brother, sneaks a kiss (or two or three).  Caleb is daily learning how to be gentle, patient, and loving towards his little brother.
A sleepy-time 2 week picture!
We just wanted to take a quick moment and thank our mothers for ALL their work when they came in town.  Mimi and Mammy (plus Papa and MeDad) were both INCREDIBLY HUGE help.  They did laundry, provided food, cleaned, vacummed, swept, had early mornings, did projects around the house, allowed us to get extra naps, held Davis, but most importantly they entertained Caleb, and they did all of this with a smile and sweet heart!!!  We don't know what we would have done without such great parents/grandparents.  Thanks for loving us and our family well!!

Davis is 1 week -- February 7

What a wonderful week we have had!  Even though we haven't left the house once-we are enjoying this special time.  Davis is a real sweetie - he eats well and sleeps even better.  What an answer to prayer!
Here are a few pictures of Davis' first week:
Is was driving Papa crazy not being up here to meet his 6th grandchild (and it didn't feel the same without him here).  But after the big snow fall on Friday-he surprised us all drove up for the weekend.  Crazy man!!  We are glad he made it here safely and he knew we probably would not let him drive in this weather if we knew.  Thanks for making a special trip to see us!
Gayle, our sweet neighbor, stopping in to visit
First bath

Davis sleeping in an interesting position
Mimi and Papa took Caleb to the mall, so we did tummy time not fearing what our 2 year old would do with Davis on the ground like this.

The weekly pictures are back!!! Let's watch this little man grow.
Thanks Mimi for his own puppy to take pictures with.

What a fun week of firsts we have had.  We think the biggest first that we were not use to is that he actually sprays urine in the air when we change his diaper.  We are learning quickly (but not quickly enough) how to be prepared for this action.  It is amazing what working kidneys can do, we never realized that Caleb never sprayed us like Davis does.  What a shock!  Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
We love you Davis and are so glad God is trusting us to raise you-what an honor!

A Snowy Day

After we were able to lift our heads up for air, we took Caleb outside to play in the snow.  He was far more interested in it than we thought.  Here are some pictures of the fun time in the snow!

Daddy teaching Caleb how to make and throw snowballs-Don't worry the no gloves look didn't last long.
Nice Throw!

Davis (4 days old) will have to wait until next year to play in the snow.
