Avery - 8 months - May 4

What a joyful little month that Avery has had! She continues to be a light to our family.  She is flexible, flexible, flexible...when a certain little boy is needy and wants to eat, she waits, when someone else needs to go to the bathroom, she gets put down and waits, when someone needs their shoes tied, she waits.  Do you get the picture-she is patient.  The only time she gets fussy, is at 6:30-when the whole house is fussy (hungry, tired, missing daddy, etc)

Avery is sitting up well and enjoys being entertained from a different view point.  She explores her toys with such interest and intent.  She hasn't gotten any teeth but they sure do look ready to come in (but I have been saying that for months).

She is getting the orange nose from her orange veggies (just like Caleb got).  I try to limit her orange veggies to one a day or one every couple of days but when she eats 2-3 containers at one sitting (at lunch and dinner), it is hard to vary her food.

It melts our heart to see her brothers get so excited to see her, they love playing with her, giving her (safe) toys to play with, encouraging her to start crawling, kissing her, and cuddling with her.  She is well-loved, protected, and cared for by her big brothers.  Davis has learned how to say her name, "Avy Cake"  It is the sweetest thing to hear!

Happy 8 months Big Girl-We love you so!!

April 2013

Gotta Love Our Crazy Texas Weather!!! We are in shorts (and put away all our winter clothes) one day and freezing cold, in the rain the next.  I don't mind the glimpses of cold weather, it will only make the heat of August feel that much shorter.  We had yet another fun month...enjoy the pictures:
April Showers and the boys stomping in the cold puddles

And now the cold is setting in and ready for a warm bath and pjs inside
Daddy had a work meeting at a Rangers Game...he brought a few gifts back (mainly for Mommy-spices, cups, kitchen things) but he was nice enough to find a chotchkie for the boys.  He talked up a map (of the stadium) and Caleb got a grand idea that it was a treasure map.  So after a few days of hearing how excited he was about a Treasure Hunt, Daddy created the coolest Hunt ever!!! (after Caleb got over the fact that the treasure wasn't at the Ranger's Stadium-he was stoked!)
The boys (mainly Caleb) are dressed in their pirate costume with their binoculars and telescopes.
Daddy showing them wear to start by reading the first clue
"Arrrr, It's this way Matey"
"Mommy, I'm trying to find the treasure-why are you blocking my way with the camera"
Treasure #1:

They are on a mission
After 4 clues, it lead them to "X" marks the spot
A watch, gold coins, chocolate coins, and money!!!

Our wonderful year of Bible study is over.  On the last day, the kids got up and sang/recited/performed their amazing scriptures.  I just love hearing God's word come out of Caleb's mouth.  Caleb is the tall one on the second row, third from the right.

One day, we were at the grocery store and ran into a fire fighter.  I always make it a big deal to our boys when we see public service workers.  The guy was really nice and invited us to see the fire station any time.  So, Caleb talked about it a lot and we went on Saturday morning with Daddy for our own private tour.

Brothers ready for action!

The last time we went, Caleb was a timid 2 year old.  Now, he was ready to explore and learn more about the fire fighters.  Davis was the timid one and stayed pretty close by.

I had heard of a few great fields around Dallas and was waiting for just the right time to go to one of them.  Well, not sure if we waited too long or the bluebonnets didn't grow much it that field but we made the most of it.  Caleb said, "It's okay Mommy, we will still have fun" when I was sad that there weren't more to enjoy.
I told them to put their arms around each other and this is what Davis did

After some silliness running around

I tried a few more pictures-and this is what I got again

Avery's out of her car seat and not ready to take pictures either

After a picnic lunch and feeding Avery-everyone was a little more cooperative.

There is the Avery Smile

Oh, the sleep issues with Davis have continued...He is staying in bed or on his pallet, unless he wakes up in the middle of the night, then he goes to the living room and cries.  Not sure what is going on but we pray A TON for it to get better QUICKLY!!
Another rainy day that Caleb wanted to play in it.  He went down the slide one time and then was done.
Sweet Caleb talked wanting Davis to come up to his class and play on the playground with him.  Finally, we compromised on a plan and Caleb would bring his brother up to his class for Show and Tell, 10 minutes before the school day ended.  Saying Caleb was excited is an understatement.  The big day finally arrived and Caleb picked out clothes he wanted Davis to wear.
It was precious to hear Caleb introduce his brother to the class.  He told the class about Davis and about their favorite games to play together.  We just pray that they always have this excitement to show each other off and be proud of one another.

The excitement was hilarious

Craig and I had some great date nights in April!  Love spending time together!
Oh. Oh. Oh. The wonderful moments of having a 26 month old! All I could do was take a picture of his complete Melt Down!  And just to clear up what was all over his face, he found a stamp and stamped his hands and arms.  When he was having a lovely moment, he rubbed his tear-filled eyes with  his hands and got a wonderful face paint.  Praying for these hard moments and that the Lord would get us all through it.

Dressing up Avery
Avery had a little runny nose and she sneezed a few times and some milk/spit up came out her nose.  I was out and Craig was a little freaked out when it happened to her under his care.  He sent me this picture, a little concerned and didn't know what to do. Such a good Daddy!
We went to see one of Ms. Hollis' last lacrosse games.  The boys had a blast but the cutest part was when a group of elementary aged girls came to watch the big girls.  Davis walked up like it was nothing and sat right by them, like it was nothing.  He sat there for a good 10 minutes before I went over and pried him away from them.
We are grateful to have done a clothes swap with some sweet friends that have two girls and then just had a baby boy.  It just so happened that their two girls names also start with an 'A'.  Lucky us, we got some really cute clothes from them and some with an A!!! Thank you Morrisons for your kind generosity in swapping clothes.
Mimi and Papa gave the boys a kite in their Easter Basket, so a beautiful Sunday afternoon, we went to a park and "flew" the kite, it looked more like running with the kite close behind but it was still fun.  And we made some memories.

We topped off the beautiful afternoon with a really special treat from the Ice Cream Truck.  Yes, they did get their own ice cream but Caleb finished his first and Davis was kind enough to share his.

One rainy, windy night, one of our neighbor's tree's fell.  Fortunately, it fell perfectly and forked the playscape.  There were minimal damages and are just so grateful it didn't fall on the house, deck, on the playscape in a different way.

Happy Girl!
We had some buddies over to play and it was a perfect way to end the playdate with bulk trash pick up.  Love sweet buddies!
Caleb was being silly and got his head stuck in a chair.  I took a picture to send to Craig at work to figure out what I should do.  I was prepared to butter his head with crisco or saw the chair but fortunately, Caleb turned his body and crawled out through the top.  Praise the Lord for not having to do something drastic.
A silly picture of another playdate with sweet buddies
I turned around and saw this sweet hand hanging out-Had to capture it because she is growing up so quickly.
We went to Austin to help my parent's move out of their house.  While Craig and I were busy at the house, Craig's family was so kind to let the boys tag along with them.  Aunt K10 took them to see Luke's baseball game.  That is ALL Davis talks about, anytime we go somewhere he says "Luke Game?" Sweet!
Aunt K10 also took them to the mall and their first experience at the Lego Store

Oh and the special treat of their own Chick Fil A Kid's Meal! They also spent the afternoon with Mammy and MeDad and had a blast with them.  Thank you for giving us this time and serving our family!
We had a quick visit at Mimi and Papa's house on our way out of town.  Such a bittersweet time saying good-bye to the wonderful memories of that house!  Mimi and Papa were draining to pool.  The boys had a blast walking in the pool and that was the closest Avery will ever be to that pool.

Davis either can be found kicking a ball or hammering.  I found him using the drip of the hose to make mud and then hammering it.

Sweet Messy Boy
That is our fun, busy, crazy, dirty, and enjoyable month!
