We knew we wanted to find out the gender of this sweet baby as soon as possible. Julie went in on a Thursday for her 17/18 week appointment and begged and pleaded to have a sonogram on Wednesday before we were leaving town for the Easter weekend. (The doctor really wanted to make sure all the other organs were good and formed, mainly the kidneys).
So Wednesday morning came and we had our sonogram!! Julie rushed home and hid pink icing between the cakes, decorated them, packed up the car and we headed to Austin to begin a fun weekend.
We first arrived at Craig's parent's house, we told them with scrabble pieces-by giving each one a few pieces to put together. They discovered it instantly and were overjoyed with the news! (Sadly the camera was in the car and didn't capture their faces-but they were excited).
Then on Thursday, we had a quick Easter Egg Hunt with the Cowden Cousins and for the "Golden Egg" we brought out the cake to reveal the gender. (Side note: Sweet Caleb was trying to help load the car and came bumping and thumping down the hallway carrying the two cake carriers, needless to say they cracked, slid, and fell apart. There really is no close up of the cakes because they were very ugly and had a little bit of reconstructive surgery to hold it together, as to not reveal the gender before cutting into it.)
Love Kristin's expression-it says it all!!
A "girl photo!"
On Friday we headed to the Ranch and were able to tell Julie's family. Mimi looks a little confused when we sat the cake on her lap because she thought we didn't know or could even find out for a few weeks.
This is priceless! I think there might have been a tear or two after being so surprised about already knowing.
It's Definitely a Girl!!!
We then were able to skype with Sister Julie in Cincinnati and have her on video-it was all too fun sharing the great news. Thank you everyone who has joined in on our excitement!
