On Friday afternoon, we loaded up again and set off for the 3+ hour drive to the Ranch. We were making such good timing that we decided to stop to smell the roses (or wildflowers). We stopped at a cute nursery with great photo opps (sad that our boys weren't feeling it at the same time.)
Riding in the nursery cart to the field of flowers
Davis' amazement running around in the maze of flowers
Brother Picture Attempt
Maybe if Daddy sits in it, it will be better
A sweet lady offered up a picture of the four of us-not bad!
Little boy in a pot
Heading back out-still trying to get a cute picture of the two of them confined in this little wagon
Huge star in the background-still unsuccessful
and more unsuccess
and more but at least Davis has a cute tractor on the back of his shirt
Last one before giving up
Enjoying the Ranch-Davis' favorite part, petting the deer
Mimi and Papa setting up fishing poles for the grandkids. Papa even brought real worms-they thought of everything and it was such an entertaining idea. Christalyn even "caught" a small catfish (Papa may have set it up the night before and made it look like she caught one).
The Easter Bunny/Mimi and Papa brought two 6 week old bunnies for each family. Again, they thought of everything...food, supplies, hay, temporary cages, etc. Christalyn and Sarah fell in love with them, the boys could care less and the little ones were not too gentle with them.
We just couldn't possibly separate Angelina and Molly, nor could we figure out which one was to go to Dallas and which to Georgetown, so they are both happily residing in Georgetown with able children to take care of them. Thanks again Papa and maybe when our kids are older will we take a live animal from you but please ask permission first!
Not quite sure about this
"Hmmm...if I poke here what will happen?"
Fishing Fun
Loving the Ranch (as long as Mommy was close by, if not holding him)
Loved throwing rocks
Sweet Mimi loving on Davis
Dyeing Easter Eggs, but there were way too many other things to do at the Ranch
Inseparable Cousins
The Cousins before the Easter Egg Hunt (the colors weren't planned but they look cute). Davis took a LONG nap and missed the Easter Egg Hunt. Amazingly, this is a great picture, everyone smiling, looking at the camera, and excited to be there...why...
...Because silly Kracker was doing this behind the camera
Caleb stopping for a little egg treat
Sweet Bunny
Our Traditional family picture
Silly Shot
Great-Mimi and her 6 great grandkids (plus granddaughters because Davis wouldn't let go of me)
Mimi and Papa in the picture now-Davis is still not happy
Mimi and Papa and their 6 grandkids
A nasty centipede that came in the path of a sneaker
Great-Mimi took a stroll on the mule
This was a normal occurrence
We celebrated TJ's birthday. Jen made a cute sunflower cookie cake with peeps! Too Adorable and so good!
Matching PJ's after bath time! Sweet Boys!
Mimi and Papa brought Easter Baskets for the kids on Easter Morning after doing Resurrection Rolls
Packing up
Great-Mimi, 91 years old, did incredible, she was a real trooper. She blended in with what was going on, really enjoyed being apart of the weekend, and loved telling stories about her life in the country growing up.
Caleb was really in his element when he was hiking.
Another traditional picture - Davis still not wanting to take pictures. (hope this phase he is in gets better before our family portrait next month-he he he).
Lastly, a few weeks before Easter we created a Resurrection Garden, planted seeds and watched it grow.
The Tomb is open...Jesus is Risen, He is Risen, Indeed! Hallelujah!!! Caleb still loves putting the stone back over the tomb and the next morning it will be "rolled away" and he gets so excited that Jesus is Alive!!
We had such a fun Easter weekend and are grateful that the Wennings let us use the Ranch again for a family vacation, are grateful for such wonderful people to go there with, and grateful that we love a Risen Lord that created such a beautiful place like the Ranch!!!!
