We had so much fun going to our second wedding in July, in the City of Brotherly Love-Philadelphia! After Lisa and Matt's wedding, Horseshoe Bay, a few days in Austin for Julie and the boys, and Craig spent a few days in Dallas working and painting the little lady's room pink, Craig and Julie met up in Memphis for a Babymoon Getaway and celebrating Al and Sarah's wedding.
We had a brief encounter with a "celebrity" on our flight from Memphis to Philadelphia. Craig recognized her right away...can you? She is the red head next to the guy in the OU hat. She is Jennifer from Ben's season of the Bachelor. If you still need a refresher, check out this link. We didn't want to be crazy stalkers but was able to snap a quick picture and now we are busted that we watch the Bachelor/Bachelorette.
We got settled in time for a romantic dinner and a moonlit walk of the city.
On Friday, we did some sightseeing of the amazing history in the city. Here is the 200+ year old Liberty Bell (except we didn't want to wait in the long line and opted for a picture through the glass).
Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed
A draft of the Declaration of Independence
Congress Hall (from 1790-1800) where the presidential inaugurations of George Washington and John Adams occurred.
The Senate Chambers on the second floor of Congress Hall
Friday night we had the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner and then on Saturday we did some more sightseeing in the rain, eating yummy Philly Cheese Steaks, and lounging before the wedding.
Craig did an excellent job reading Mark 10
The beautiful couple
The beautiful church
Such a wonderful ceremony of two people in love for each other and Christ
The reception was at the Franklin Institute, where we had hors d'oeuvre in the interactive heart exhibit, and ate, danced, and partied the night away with an incredible statue of Benjamin.
Part of the reception was a traditional Korean ceremonial toast and other customs that were very interesting, like catching the chestnuts to see how many children they will have, to biting the seed of a date from each others mouth to symbolize the gender of their first child, and then to finish it up with a piggy back ride around the table. So, Sarah and Al will have 18 children with the first being a boy. Pretty interesting!
Al and Craig were at Stanford together and had a house their second year together- Al is a great friend and we are thrilled to have Sarah as a new friend.
Congratulations Sarah and Al! We are praying for this next wonderful chapter of your life and are so excited to meet your 18 children!
In the meantime, Caleb and Davis were having the time of their lives with Mimi, Papa, Mammy, MeDad, and the Garcias! Thank you so so so much Mimi and Papa for giving us this special time together and loving on our boys!! They had a ball and were in great hands! We all love you and appreciate all you do for our family!
Apparently, all Caleb wanted to do was play at the park, "ride" Uncle Brian's skateboard on the sidewalks, and run outside.
This is Davis' shirt he only wears at Mimi and Mammy's house: What happens at Grandma's stays at Grandma's!
One afternoon, Caleb found Uncle Brian's old stash of Pez dispensers and opened every single package and had them all laying out like this (didn't eat the candy, just wanted to play with them)
Fun times at the Garcias
Davis giving the bunny a kiss
What a fun weekend for all!! Thanks again Mimi and Papa for keeping the boys! We had a wonderful time sleeping in, eating at our own pace, sightseeing, and enjoying a lot of quality time with each other before baby 3 comes!
