We then took a few weekends to catch up from the crazy couple of weeks we had. We changed out light fixtures, planted grass, got a ton of rest and relaxation, watched basketball, and enjoyed the down time.

Kidney Update -- Take Two
Unfortunately, Caleb is going to have another surgery on Wednesday, April 29th to remove the lower blockage of the ureter where it connects to the bladder. They say this should be an "easier" surgery than the last one but it is still tough to think about the images in our mind of the last surgery. His ureter is measuring about 13 millimeters. (A normal size ureter is about 4-5 millimeters and a megaureter is about 7 millimeters.) Poor Caleb has a "double" megaureter. We feel better prepared for this one because we don't have the fear of the unknown and we have 7 weeks to prepare.
While we were there they weighed him and measured his length. Caleb is a solid 18 pounds and almost 28 inches long.
We have been praying Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Caleb will have quite the story and the scars to show it but ultimately it is God's story He is writing for Caleb's life.

5 Months = February 25
(Of course, the one good picture we took of Caleb during his 18 week photo shoot- the sign was backwards. Ignore the 19 weeks- it should be 18 weeks.)
Yes, we did say UTI- poor little guy had 104 degree fever and was miserable for about 24 hours. We don't know if this has any connection with his kidney issues. We should know more in a little over a week when we visit our urologist. And yes, we did say a weekend with Mimi and Papa. Our church had their big Student Ministry event called DTown. We stayed with our energetic eighth graders all weekend and left Caleb with Julie's Parents. It was a blast but it was so tough to be away from the little guy. Thank you Mimi and Papa for keeping our little man!!
Daddy is so good at making Caleb laugh and is just so precious how much a 5 month old just adores his Daddy. The ladies in the church nursery call Caleb "Mr. Smiley" because he always has a grin from ear to ear even when he is fussy or tired. Sometimes people don't know if he is laughing or crying.
We love the way our stress just melts whenever Caleb gives us one of those heartfelt giggles that sound like they are coming from the bottom of his feet!

Best Present Ever! - February 7
But, Daddy had other plans in mind when he made a yummy breakfast, lunch, and took me out to a special dinner and performance at the Eisemann Center. Craig served me well and allowed me to enjoy my 28th birthday. (Side note...Craig and I have now known eachother for a fourth of my life- WOW!! We met on February 8, 2002 on a cold night in Las Vegas.)

Week 18 = 4 months!! January 25
Many of our friends are popping out babies left and right. We recently met two friends that are new to the world, sweet Dayton and Ade. It amazes us how much difference there is in just 3 months. They both seemed so tiny, so fragile, and so new to the world. It is hard to believe Caleb being that small and it is even harder to believe that he was only there 3 months ago. There are so many changes that happen everyday.
Speaking of changes...Caleb loves his feet, he has fun new noises everyday, and he is sleeping ALL the way through the night (7 pm to 7 am.) We feel like we are always saying this, but Caleb is in such a fun stage. He is always happy, cheerful, has a big ol' gummy smile, and adores playing with his daddy.
During the past month we also went back to the urologist for a post-op appointment. We found out that Caleb will most likely have another surgery before the year ends. There is another potential blockage along the ureter, on the bladder-side (his surgery last month was along the kidney side.) He is taking a laxative daily and we will return to the urologist on March 9 for another check-up. We will hopefully know more at that time but are just praying for God's miraculous hands to heal this little body.
We wake up everyday and feel like its Christmas morning. We get the same excitement walking into Caleb’s room as we did when we were kids racing to find presents under the tree. We can’t wait to see what new expressions Caleb will have each day and to share the many laughs he brings. (We know Christmas has been over for a month know but we are still holding on to the joy the Christmas season brings.)
